Pacha - is easy to find as it's right opposite Victoria station.
The Music
Pacha continually draws the big names including Hed Kandi and Ms Moneypenny who perform regulary. The music policy of funky house and disco plus a blitzing sound system guarantee to give your legs a good work out.
The Place
Housed in a 1920s building with an interior resplendently dressed in its original oak panelling complete with a stained glass ceiling supported by elegant marble pillars, Pacha oozes classic style and class from every corner. A magnificent balustraded gallery overlooks the main dance floor below fashioning a slightly decadent and heady environment. The main room contains a well proportioned dance floor, while downstairs is the smaller back room with chill out beds and sofas. Pacha has the Ibiza image with its glamorous clubbers and stately décor but perhaps falls short on atmosphere. The prices are on the up side with beer staring at L4.50 a bottle.
Notting Hill Arts ClubFrom the outside you would hardly know it was there. But, beneath the ground there exists a little diamond of a club that's not all poshed up despite its posh location.
Notting Hill Arts Club might only have a capacity for a few hundred clubbers but you can expect to have an intimate night out with some of best way ward vibes in town. Easy to find (if not to see) it's right by the tube.
The Music
Running alongside their arts program is a varied music agenda that includes DEATH DISCO every Wednesday which has featured some incredible guest DJs including Courtney Love; Tim Burgess; Mick Jones, The D4 +. Thursdays are YO YO night while Fridays usually feature Live Bands + DJs. Monthly nights include the Brazilian Love Affair - 3rd Saturday of every month - billed as a musical bridge between London & Rio. And then there's the Indie Festisal Communion on the 1st Sunday of every month that has played stage to such bands as The killers; The Sterophonics and Suede.
The Place
As you descend the stairs the first thing you notice is the tight atmosphere. The dance floor is small and compact. When there's a band on they have to cull half the dance floor - but that's all part of the club's charm. The clubbers are mixed-anything from Indies to suits but works. The circular bar serves up some highly palatable - if slightly pricey - cocktails. If you're looking for space then arrive around eightish.
Koko ClubFormally known as Camden Palace before undergoing a 6 month multi-million pound transformation into the
Koko Club in 2004 creating a 21st century entertainment building. Located at the bottom of Camden High street opposite Mornington Crescent tube.
The Music
The music is varied as evidenced by the top name acts that have played here including Coldplay;
Madonna and The Babyshambles. They host regular disco nights though Koko is bets known for its alternative nights such as Funky/Electro; banging house/trance/wuphoric nights, Drumb and Bass nights, Hip Hop nights, and even fetish nights.
The Place
'Wow' is probably the first word that will leave your lips when you enter Koko. You might think you've stepped into an opera hall or theatre such is the splendour that greets your eyes. With 6 bars it's easy to find a drink though at L4 a beer you might find 1 purchase will last a long time.
